“An empty nest. An old family portrait (the clothes are from the 1970’s) and when the mother looks at it now she sees that she is the only one remaining in position, whole. In her current family dynamic the children are no longer in need of her, as they are adults now and not in her every day life as they once were, hence they are partially hidden—there but not entirely there.” - Kate Moyston
